Canadians have listened to music by Chantal Kreviazuk and husband Raine Maida (of Our Lady Peace) for decades, but likely have never seen then perform together. Victoria fans finally got that opportunity as the couple performed the second show of their tour as Moon vs. Sun in the intimate setting of The McPherson Playhouse.
They performed songs from their 11-song debut album as Moon vs. Sun called ‘I’m going to Break Your Heart (Music From The Motion Picture)’. The album is also the soundtrack for a documentary shot two years ago about their marital struggles and the recording of the album. The couple also performed a few Chantal Kreviazuk and Our Lady Peace songs as well as covers. A highlight was when they flipped roles and sang each other’s well known singles; Maida singing Kreviazuk’s ‘Wayne’ and Kreviazuk singing Our Lady Peace’s ‘Superman’s Dead’.
Opening the show was Wallgrin, a solo project of Vancouver vocalist and violinist Tegan Wahlgren. Her voice had a bit of operatic tone at times as she used live looping to construct her songs with her voice and violin.
