Orillia, Ontario’s Bleeker opened up the night to a small, but very receptive audience with a high energy set with charismatic front man Taylor Perkins that engaged the crowd to come to the front. Often that can be a difficult task for an opening act that is mostly unknown to Victoria, but the band was very self aware of their anonymity and made themselves known.
Distrikt’s dance floor was significantly fuller for the start of The Trews set. While it wasn’t a sold out show, the venue had a healthy number of fans for the former multiple-Juno award nominated band. The band sounded impressive. Lead singer Colin Macdonald’s vocals were on point and the band as a whole with new drummer Gavin Maguire sounded tight. There were a number of sing-alongs during the forty-four minute set including during their most well known hits ‘Tired of Waiting’ and ‘Not Ready to Go’.
