Victoria pop-rock band formerly known as Isobel Trigger have officially changed their name to Fortune Killers.
Word of the name change was revealed in a concert poster on a Facebook event for a Vancouver show booked for November. The band officially announced the change in a statement on their Facebook page Tuesday night (Oct 18, 2016):
We asked the band for further comment and drummer Ariel Tseng responded, “I really wanted our name to be “Funcy,” but Brett and Felicia wouldn’t let me.”
“We’d been feeling for a while that we wanted to freshen up our name to match our new sound,” said lead vocalist Felicia Harding. “After our last recording session with Howard Redekopp (Dear Rouge, Tegan and Sara) we were talking about how much we all like Tarantino movies and how the song reminded us of something he might choose for a soundtrack. Later I was staring at the Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill posters in my living room and Fiction Killer popped into my head, then Fortune Killer just clicked! We felt like it really matched our next single Fool’s Gold.”
Fortune Killers’ new single ‘Fool’s Gold’ is scheduled to be released Friday November 4, 2016. The band’s first show in Victoria under the new name will be at Distrikt Friday December 2, 2016.
