Victoria music venue Lacey-Lou Tapas Lounge was forced to temporarily close as of Thursday May 7 due to mounting debt caused by cost overruns of the site’s renovation. What was supposed to be a two month renovation turned into seven after it was discovered the heritage building had more structural issues than anticipated.

Lacey-Lou’s has been operating “day-to-day” since it opened in April 2014 and has hosted more than 500 shows and had shows booked for the next four months.

An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to raise funds to pay down the initial debt. After that, owners say the business can float itself.

A number of pop-up festivals are scheduled to happen at secret locations each Friday in May which we assume will be part of the fundraising campaign. Check the Lacey-Lou Tapas Lounge Facebook Page for details.

Lacey-Lou Tapas Lounge hopes to re-open June 1.
