High Tide Entertainment is launching ‘FanPowered Concerts,’ a series of crowdfunding campaigns to bring major recording artists and bands to Victoria. The first campaign, launched today, will attempt to bring the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the capital region. The goal is to have 5000 people pledge $100 each (for a total of $500,000) with the guarantee that should the goal be reached and the concert is booked, each $100 pledge will get a ticket to the show.
If the campaign is successful and the band agrees to play in Victoria, the concert would happen sometime in 2015. Money pledged would only be charged to a person’s credit card if/when the concert is confirmed booked. The $500,000 raised would be used to pay for the band, the venue, stage, lighting, security and promotion.
This concert model is similar to what Foo Fighters fans did in Richmond, Virginia to influence that band to perform in their city. One major difference for the Victoria campaign is that the band’s agent has given the go ahead for this campaign to take place.
Pledges will be collected at crowdfunding website Tilt.com with a campaign deadline of Saturday November 15, 2014.
