Victoria concert venue The Coda will have its grand opening on Valentine’s Day weekend with two shows Friday February 14, 2025 and another on Saturday February 15.
Formerly Hermann’s Upstairs, The Coda will kick off with The Fabulous B-Sides on the site’s new Bar Stage from 6pm to 9pm performing a Valentine’s dance. The six-piece band will perform a set of contemporary and classic hits.
The second show of the night features Motown, Soul, Pop, Funk, Rhythm and Blues Band The Midnights in the main room starting at 9:30pm.
Saturday will have a full night of Latin music and dance. ‘Pablo Cardenas presents Club Havana’ features The West Coast Cuban All-Star Orchestra and salsa dance lessons by Salsa Caliente.
“As soon as our last permit was secured, we didn’t want to wait another day before getting the space open and filled with music,” said The Coda co-owner and The Midnights band member Christina Morrison. “Victorians are hungry for a place they can go to find community and share experiences.
Morrison and co-owner Al Smith obtained the keys to the facility from the City of Victoria in late November. Since then they have been renovating and upgrading the room. Those upgrades are still ongoing.
“This project has been a lot of work, but I know it will be worth it,” said Al Smith. “We want to make sure that there is a supportive home for live music in Victoria. The Coda is the place musicians can share their work, connect to their community and feel valued.”
Other shows booked for February include Aston Martini, Canadian Beauty Presents: A Grateful Dead Tribute, Tight Hair Disco, and All Together Now Drop-In Choir.
