Victoria metal stars Spiritbox and Indo-Canadian rapper AP Dhillon are among a handful of nominees based in Victoria and Vancouver Island.
Fresh off being a Grammy nominee, Spiritbox are nominated for Group of The Year and for Metal/Hard Music Album of The Year.
AP Dhillon is up for three Junos. He is nominated for Breakthrough Artist or Group of The Year, South Asian Music Recording of The Year and Songwriter of The Year. Dhillon made major headlines around the world after his Colwood home was shot at and two vehicles set on fire in his driveway in September 2024. Dhillon was recently announced as a participant in the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
Other Vancouver Island based nominees include Nanaimo’s David Gogo and the Cowichan Valley’s Blue Moon Marquee who are both nominated for Blues Album of The Year.
Alternative Album of The Year nominee Peach Pit has local ties in Victoria band member Dougal Bain McLean. Peach Pit performed two shows at The Royal Theatre February 4th and 5th.
The 54th annual Juno Awards take place in Vancouver on Sunday March 30, 2025 at Rogers Arena. This year’s show will be hosted by Michael Buble and will air on CBC and CBC Gem.
