The legendary Roots crew are coming to Phillips Brewery in Victoria.
They’re just one of the six headliners for the fourth annual Phillips Backyard Festival Series happening Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6 and Friday August 8 to Sunday August 10, 2025.
The Philadelphia hip hop group lead by drummer Questlove and Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter will close out Phillips Reverb on Sunday August 10th. They are one of the most revered hip hop groups of all time with a music catalogue spanning more more than three decades. They’re also known for being the house band for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Joining The Roots as August headliners are Vancouver’s Peach Pit and New York duo Phantogram.
Phantogram are returning to Victoria for the first time since a sold out show at the former Sugar Nightclub in 2016. Their electronic rock duo have been a favourite a festivals around the world for more than a decade.
Peach Pit are returning after having performed a sold out Royal Theatre back in February.
July’s Phillips Tilt festival will kick off with two bands Victoria hasn’t seen in more than a decade. Headliner Cold War Kids last performed on the island at Rifflandia 2011 and Band of Skulls also performed at Rifflandia in 2012.
New Zealand indie psych rock star Unknown Mortal Orchestra headlines the Saturday of Tilt and Oakland rapper G-Eazy will close out the July fest.
Tickets for the festival go on sale Thursday March 27, 2025 at 10am. Single day tickets are $99 (plus taxes and fees) and single weekend passes are $249 (plus taxes and fees).
The stage at the Phillips Backyard will be raised by two feet to hopefully provide better sight lines than in years passed.
