The Arts on View Society launched a pledge drive to save Hermmann’s Jazz Club and View Street Social.
In under 48 hours, they have nearly reached their goal of $450,000.
The Arts on View Society launched the campaign Tuesday March 24, 2026 following an outpouring of emails, messages and conversations from people who care about the venues wanting a chance to save it.
One week ago, on Thursday March 19, it was announced that the Arts on View Society would be ceasing operations of Hermann’s Jazz Club and View Street Social due to historical financial obligations including a significant outstanding GST liability and structural issues created by previous leadership.
$450,000 is the amount the society says is needed to stabilize the organization, pay down inherited debt and make repairs to the building and equipment. Without that money, the venues will close at the end of April.
Within the first 24 hours of the campaign, nearly $377,000 had been pledged. As of 11am Thursday morning with the final deadline a month away, the pledge drive’s website shows it has reached the $450,000 goal.
Arts on View Society Board Chair and Acting Executive Director said in an email update Thursday that they have begun verifying pledges to get an accurate picture of what has been committed.
“So far, we have verified $178,000 in pledges, which is a strong and encouraging foundation,” said Smith. “At the same time, we’ve identified approximately $40,000 in pledges that are not valid, and those will be removed as we continue cleaning the data.”
Smith tells those who have made a pledge that they will be reaching out soon.
