Two months after announcing the end of Laketown Shakedown, Laketown Amphitheatre has announced Nickelback will headline a show at the venue with support from The Glorious Sons and Sam Roberts.
The concert will take place Saturday August 9, 2025.
On January 17, 2025 the Laketown team announced that they were transitioning away from the a yearly festival model to booking a wider range of events. Nickelback is the first major booking since that news broke.
Nickelback is one of Canada’s most decorated, and also polarizing, rock bands. With 12 Juno awards and multiple Grammy nominations under their wing, Nickelback have had a bit of resurgence on music charts and streaming with their compilation album ‘The Best of Nickelback: Volume 1’ reaching number 1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums in the first week of release.
This will be the first time Nickelback has performed on Vancouver Island in 20 years. Their last shows were at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria August 19 and 20, 2005.
The opening acts are no strangers to the island though. The Glorious Sons are former Laketown Shakedown headliners and have had headlining shows in Victoria three times in the last 5 years.
Sam Roberts last performed at Laketown Amphitheatre for Laketown Rock in 2017. His most recent show in Victoria was a sold out gig at Capital Ballroom in February 2024.
Tickets prices for the concert begin at $119.95 for the Hillside section of the venue. Concert-goers will also have the option to buy a camping pass to camp August 8th and 9th.
Laketown Amphitheatre will host a Kick-Off Party on their Flats stage on the Friday headlined by emerging Campbell River blues-rock guitarist Garret T. Willie.
