Victoria musician Graeme Bousada, who performed as BOUSADA, has died. He was 32 years old.
He died in a terrible accident falling off a ladder. He had just performed at FernFest 2022 days prior.
Bousada’s partner Rose made the tragic announcement on Instagram Friday morning stating, “It is with a broken heart that I share the news of my beloved Graeme Bousada’s sudden and tragic death. He fell from a ladder while doing repairs to our window sills. I miss him and love him more than words can express. Graeme loved and valued this community of creatives and really appreciated that you all supported our family business. I thank you for your understanding and welcome any messages of support, though I won’t be checking or responding for a while.”
Bousada moved to Victoria in 2014 after living in a commune on Cortes Island where he had been in a ska band called ‘Back Eddy and the Procrastinators. He moved to Victoria and started making his own music.
He was a graduate of Pearson College in Metchosin.
His live shows in Victoria were always popular as he would use a mini keyboard, laptop and a loop machine to create dance tracks on the fly. He was always engaging on stage and collaborated with many local musicians. He was named a Zone Band of The Month in March 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
