In a statement posted to their website and social media, organizers of Car Free YYJ announced that the Father’s Day Douglas Street event will not take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BC government’s measures to limit large-scale gatherings make it impossible for the event that attracts more than 35,000 people to happen.
The event that closes multiple blocks of Douglas street to car traffic filling the streets with vendors and local entertainment stages.
The cancellation is among a long list of festivals and events cancelling in recent weeks due to the current health crisis.
