The 2020 TD Victoria International JazzFest has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The Victoria Jazz Society announced the cancellation in a statement on their website and social media.
In the statement, organizers cite the Government of Canada’s imposing of non-essential travel restrictions on foreign and U.S. nationals until June 30, 2020 and B.C.’s provincial ban on gatherings exceeding 50 people as contributing factors to the decision.
The festival is currently working on a contingency plan to present a live music presentation series sometime in the late summer or early fall. It would mix elements of JazzFest and the society’s annual Vancouver Island Blues Bash.
Refunds will be available from point of purchase and will begin processing starting April 14.
The 2020 TD Victoria International JazzFest would have been the 37th edition and was scheduled to take place June 19 to 28, 2020.
