The City of Victoria is teaming up with Music BC and consulting firm Sound Diplomacy to issue a public survey to assess the ecomonic and social impacts of Victoria’s music scene.
The results of the survey will be used to develop the city’s first ‘Music Strategy’.
“Building Victoria’s Music Strategy will help enhance our vibrant community,” said Victoria City Councillor Jeremy Loveday. “We want to make the music scene accessible to all and support the musicians and audiences that call Victoria home.”
Sound Diplomacy will use the data collected for input to help with topics such as audience and artist development, keeping the local music industry sustainable, governance, and spaces and places.
“This data helps create better, more music-friendly policies, supports regulatory change and ensures the needs of musicians and the music ecosystem is recognized across the city and its policies,” said Sound Diplomacy founder and president Dr. Shain Shapiro.
The survey is aimed at musicians, music industry professionals and music lovers in greater Victoria who want to have their say to help develop Victoria’s music strategy.
As an incentive to participate, if you complete the survey you will be entered to win prizes including a travel packege for two to see John Legend in concert in Vacouver, tickets to a Victoria Conservatory concert, tickets to a Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest show, tickets to a show at Capital Ballroom, or one of three merch bundles.
