20. Towers and Trees at Butchart Gardens- West Coast (August 19, 2016)
Towers and Trees had some major moments this year. They headlined a sold out show at Sugar Nightclub to start off the year in January, then they played at CBC’s Hometown Hockey Tour stop in Victoria and they had a well deserved spot in the Rock The Shores lineup, but this momentof Towers and Trees performing at Butchart Gardents was a bittersweet one for the band and their fans. Their performance of the title track from the full-length album ‘West Coast’ would be the last song they performed before beginning an indefinite hiatus. Drummer Jesse Boland has since moved to Toronto. Frontman Adrian Chalifour became a father in December 2016 and lead guitarist Dave Zellinsky has started his own solo project set to be released in 2017. Towers and Trees performed ‘West Coast’ like they didn’t want the moment to end, extending the song to 10 minutes before taking their final bow… for now. The only reason this moment doesn’t rank way higher on the list is the uncertainty of the band’s future, but something tells me we have not seen the last of Towers and Trees.
