Nevil Meyer, lead singer of Victoria rock band Trophy Dad, made a guest appearance to perform with Nickelback at Laketown Amphitheatre Saturday August 9, 2025.
The appearance came after a three-part documentary video campaign released over the course of a month.
On July 8th, Meyer released the first video on Trophy Dad’s YouTube and social media accounts after the band was added as a supporting act for the weekend headlined by Nickelback.
The goal? Influence Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger to watch Trophy Dad’s set at the Friday night pre-party at the venue.
Unfortunately, Kroeger and Nickelback did not make it to Trophy Dad’s performance, but shortly after the set Meyer received a call from Nickelback’s management.
That call lead to Saturday night’s Nickelback concert where Meyer was invited to join the band on stage to sing ‘Rockstar’ in front of more than 15,000 concert goers. It’s the largest concert audience Meyer has performed to and the largest ever on Vancouver Island.
Friends, family and the local music and service industry communities have flooded Meyer’s inbox with texts, direct messages and social media comments congratulating him on the achievement. He was seen at the Phillips Backyard Sunday attending Phillips Reverb and was constantly being approached by people congratulating him.
Meyer will be posting a part 4 of the video series to share what he experienced soon.
