Victoria recording studio Quadratic Sound has closed its Discovery Street location.
In a statement posted to social media, the ownership group announced that as of the end of New Year’s Eve, the lease agreement for the space ended and they chose not to renew.
“Due to various circumstances, we felt that we could no longer continue to operate out of this location in a fiscally responsible manner that would be in line with our operational needs,” said Quadratic Sound owners in their statement. ” However, the shuttering of these doors will not be the end of Quadratic Sound. This is not the first time we’ve closed a studio and it probably won’t be the last.”
Quadratic Sound operated at 740 Discovery Street since 2019. The space was used for music recording, video sessions, band rehearsals and public jam sessions. It began as a home studio on Quadra Street in 2015. In 2020, the studio expanded their services to include education and multimedia services.
The group will continue to take on audio/video projects while they look for a new location.
