RBC is launching a virtual music performance series called ‘First Up with RBCxMusic‘.
RBC says that the program “will support and promote emerging Canadian recording artists and musicians through the challenging circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
RBCxMusic will select more than 100 artists to participate. Each artist selected will receive a $1000 stipend (or up to $1500 for a group of two to more more selected participants) to perform a 30-minute set on the artist’s Instagram. RBCxMusic will provide paid amplification support, media and promotional support, and networking opportunities with industry professionals through RBC’s partnership with Live Nation Canada.
“With live events and paid performances currently on pause, the creative community is in need of support now more than ever,” said RBC brand marketing vice-president Matt McGlynn. “First Up with RBCxMusic hopes to help fill that void, so emerging musicians and recording artists can continue to hone their craft, perform for fans and ultimately, progress their young careers.”
The program is open to Canadian recording artists between the ages of 18 and 35 who are in the early stages of their career and seek primary income from their music. You need to include a brief bio, music sample, artist imagery and your Instagram handle.
Applications are now open. The deadline is June 4, 2020 at 2pm PST.
