The 2020 Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest has been postponed until 2021.
The Victoria BC Ska Society made the announcement in a social media post and an email sent to their mail list Thursday morning.
In the statement, the society says “Based on recent briefings by our provincial Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and the federal government, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to postpone Victoria’s 21st Annual Ska & Reggae Festival.”
Full Fest and and VIP Full Fest pass holders have the option to keep their festival pass which will be honoured for 2021 or they can get a full refund at point of purchase. Organizers also stated that bands that were confirmed for 2021 are welcome to play in 2021.
The society still plans to provide some kind of programming within public health guidelines for the rest of 2020.
The 2020 Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest was originally scheduled to take place June 30 to July 5 at Ship Point and various night venues. With the City of Victoria cancelling Canada Day celebrations in the inner harbour Wednesday and the Victoria Jazz Society cancelling the TD Victoria International Jazz Fest, it was expected the Victoria BC Ska Society would do the same.
