Public Records and TELUS are launching their 2nd round of TELUS Optik Local grants. This year they are offering music video grants to artists in BC and Alberta worth up to $7500 (up from $5000 in 2013). Victoria is one of the eligible communities. Also this year Public Records is holding educational workshops on music/film marketing and branding in Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton and Lethbridge. The Vancouver workshop takes place at Save On Meats Pop-Up Diner Thursday January 23, 2014 from 6-8pm. Registration at Public Records website is required for attendance.
Artists retain full rights to their content and the created music videos will appear on TELUS Optik Local through their Optik TV on demand and online services.
Applications for musicians and filmmakers open Monday January 27, 2014 with a application deadline of Friday February 7, 2014. Interested artists should create a profile at the Public Records website ahead of time. (http://www.publicrecords.org/artists/)
