Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. is bringing back their Phillips Backyard Festival Series for a second year with two talent-packed festivals.

One change to the series this year is there will be two three-day festivals over the summer rather than three two-day weekends. ‘Tilt!’ will take place Friday July 7 to Sunday July 9, 2023 and ‘Reverb’ will take place Friday August 11 to Sunday August 13, 2023.

Headlining Tilt! are DJ Pee .Wee, Lord Huron and Bahamas.

DJ Pee .Wee is the DJ alter-ego of multi-Grammy Award winning artist Anderson .Paak. It will be the first performance in Canada as DJ Pee .Wee. His all-vinyl DJ set will also include live horns and drums. Joining him on Saturday July 8 will be Vancouver hip-hop group Snotty Nose Rez Kids, queer indie-pop band Fleece, Vancouver hip-hop/soul artist Missy D and Victoria based singer-songwriter Nicky Mackenzie

Los Angeles indie-rock band Lord Huron returns to Victoria for the first time since opening for the Arkells in February 2019 to headline the first day of Tilt! with support from Kitchener, Ontario’s JJ Wilde, American troubadour Neal Francis, Victoria’s Pastel Blank and Toronto singer-songwriter Skye Wallace.

Toronto indie folk artist Bahamas also makes his return to the island to close out Tilt! with Los Angeles-based violinist and hip-hop vocalist Sudan Archives, Canadina folk-rock duo Whitehorse, Vancouver singer-songwrite Haley Blais and Victoria rock band Trophy Dad.

August’s festival ‘Reverb’ kicks off with a day of Canadian rock headlined by local favourite and “Metchosin One” Jesse Roper. Opening for Roper are Kitchener, Ontario blues-rock duo The Blue Stones, Oshawa rock duo Crown Lands, Vancouver alt-rock band Little Destroyer and Victoria rock veterans Acres of Lions.

Topping the second day of music at Reverb will be Vancouver indie-pop group Peach Pit. Joining them will be Seattle soul/R&B singer Allen Stone, Shelburne, Ontario’s Ruby Waters, Victoria’s The Bankes Brothers and Vancouver’s Babe Corner.

Closing out Reverb will be Seattle indie-folk band Fleet Foxes. The two-time Grammy Award nominees will be in Victoria for the first time in nearly 15 years. Rounding out the final day will be Queensland, Australia indie-folk band Hollow Coves, Victoria favourites Jon and Roy, Melbourne Australia singer-songwriter Steph Strings and up and coming Victoria electronic indie pop group Cold Fame.

Single day tickets start as low as $80. Full weekend passes will be $260 for July’s Tilt! and $235 for August’s Reverb festival. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday March 29, 2023.
